Boxfresh Clothing – The British Street Wear Originators
1989 saw the emergence of the fashion label Boxfresh, a British clothing range which was inspired by the UK dance scene that prevailed at the time. Fresh new music crept on the scene including acid jazz, trip hop, grime and drum and bass and they all conspired to bring together a change in fashion and visualising that change was the inspirational label Boxfresh. Their name derives from New York hip hop slang describing a new pair of trainers as being ‘fresh out of the box’ and this analogy perfectly summed up the innovative apparel that Boxfresh design.
The label had humble beginnings and it all started with a box of customised prints on vintage t-shirts and sweaters which were sold at London’s Greenwich and Camden markets but the label quickly grew. By 1990 the first batch of these t-shirts were sold to Bond in Soho, one year later and the collection was being displayed at the SEHM trade show in Paris and the label started to sell some of their apparel to key Japanese accounts. The demand for their clothing grew and the word quickly spread about this label’s innovative street style which all led to Boxfresh opening their very first store in Covent Garden in 1992. The brand didn’t just make an impact in the UK though, in 1995 the label became licensed in the USA and 2002 saw the Boxfresh clothing label being sold in stores in Australia and Japan. In 2008 an Eastern European partner was signed and 2009 saw new partners joining up in Canada, Spain and South Africa to name just a few.
With every year that passed, the Boxfresh brand expanded and what started out as a relatively small clothing collection soon grew to include footwear and jewellery. Not only did the brand expand but the clothing collection also developed and their unique street wear went from strength to strength. The Boxfresh clothing collection includes all the essentials a man needs including t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, knitwear, hoodies, polos, shorts, shirts, cardigans and super cool trainers so you can fully kit yourself out in stylish Boxfresh threads for every occasion, in every season.
